Welcome to the home page of Tring Allotments Association. Please use the links to the left to navigate the site.
Tring Allotments Association aims to promote: sharing of knowledge, love of growing veg/plants, and social interaction amongst its members who cover a whole range of ages and experience at Duckmore Lane & Bulbourne sites.
With publicity on how many different chemicals are used in vegetable/fruit production, and the effect of food miles on the environment, the demand for locally sourced, organic grown vegetables has increased. Also awareness of lifestyle, general fitness and health, especially from a young age, has led to more people (particularly those with families) taking up allotments. Demand for allotments in Tring has been so great that the Council had a waiting list in operation last year and, in order to accommodate the high demand, has split many of the plots into two. The revitalised Allotments Association has also seen membership grow during the last six months and would welcome any new members.
Both sites are beginning to regain their own charm & character as more people tend the land. Many allotments holders are switching to greener/organic methods which has enhanced wild life and also popular are Heritage seeds that encourage diversity in the gene pool without the help of ‘science’. There is a wide diversity in what is grown and, alongside the traditional vegetables, you will see cut flowers, many varieties of fruit and some of the more unusual crops.
